Cairo/Purling is centrally located in Greene County and within an easy drive of many local attractions. We are snuggled at the base of Windham Mountain with the Hudson River a mere 15 minute drive east. All year round festivals and events abound: Irish Arts Week, The East Durham Irish Festival, Blue Fox, Mountain Jam, Apple Harvest Festival, October fests, road and mountain bike events, skiing, hiking, Olana, The Thomas Cole House, Arts Walks, Hudson River Events, Street Festivals, Gallery Openings, Catskill Cats, The Wacky Raft Race, Warrior Dash, Woodstock, antique galleries, fine art galleries, Beaux Arts Ball, fireworks, motorcycle rallies, Baliwick Farm & Discovery Zoo, The Fireman's Museum, horseback riding, golfing, wineries and The Athens Lighthouse are just a small sampling of activities in the region.
Of course, our favorite destination and activity is relaxing at Shinglekill Falls!
